Visible light communication system at 3.59 Gbit/s based on c-plane green micro-LED

Visible light communication (VLC) based on the micro emitting diode (micro-LED) has attracted increasing attention owing to its high bandwidth, low power consumption, and security. Compared with semi-polar or non-polar micro-LEDs, commercial polar micro-LED advantages of cost more mature epitaxy technique. In this study, green micro-LEDs different indium tin oxide (ITO) sizes are fabricated c-plane LED epitaxial wafer. The transmission performance 80, 100, 150 µm devices been studied in detail. A partial pre-equalization scheme is utilized increase data rates. Finally, VLC system a 100 as transmitter could achieve maximum rate 3.59 Gbit/s. Such result will be beneficial promote further development low-cost, high-speed future.
